Native Japanese chef Norio Akamatsu brings 26 years of experience to his role as owner and executive chef at Sushi One.

Norio was born and raised in Miyazaki, Japan and grew up loving fresh seafood and sushi. His passion for fishing and fresh seafood led him to be a professional fisherman for 15 years. After coming to the United States in 1993, he worked as a chef in restaurants throughout Florida for 15 years while he dreamed of opening his own restaurant one day.

He co-founded Sushi One in the summer of 2009 with the encouragement and support of his loyal customers, family, and friends. Since then, the restaurant has become a Naples favorite and was recently awarded the NI Dining Awards Winner 2019 for Best Sushi by Gulf Shore Life Magazine.

Committed to using the freshest and finest ingredients, Norio loves sharing traditional Japanese specialties and authentic sushi with his guests.
